So last year I was able to keep all of my new year's resolutions. That was a first. I have been thinking about what I wanted to resolve to do this year and I figured that my resolutions should fit into the categories of physical health, spiritual health, emotional health and financial health. I don't know if that last category is really considered a "health" but I am sure Dave Ramsey would back me on this one so I am going with it.
1. Physical Health - I have never been able to run for a very long time/distance. Even at the peak of my fitness in high school and college I never even tried to run longer than a mile. I don't know if it is the asthma or just my pure dislike for running, but I have never even tried to push myself. A couple of days ago at the gym I ran 2 miles without stopping. It was a 12 minute mile but I didn't stop. After that I decided that I could do more if I just push myself. So my physical health resolution for the year is to be able to run a 5K without stopping. I would like to do a Turkey Trot at Thanksgiving, but I have to at least be able to pull it out on the treadmill at the gym.
2. Spiritual Health - I have always struggled with studying the scriptures. I read them ok, but I never really "study" them. So this year my spiritual health resolution is to read the entire Book of Mormon with a study guide. I have ordered my BOM institute manual and it should be here any day. Our family scripture study goal is to read as a family at least 50% of the days of each month. I also want to maintain my temple attendance with at least one trip a month and try to add 2 new temples to my list.
3. Mental Health - My mental health resolution for the year is to be under 150 lbs. by Christmas. I know this sounds like it should fall into the physical health category, but I think losing some of the weight that I put on over the past 6 years will help me mentally more than physically. I haven't felt good about myself in a long time. I am embarrassed about the way I look which gives me pretty crappy self esteem and drastically effects the way I treat my family and the relationship I have with my husband. I may never be 130 lbs again, but I think under 150 lbs is reasonable.
4. Financial Health - It was so nice to sell the house in Brigham City and get out of debt. For a couple of glorious years we had no debt but our mortgage which is how it should be. Then Alan lost his job, twice. He took a pay cut, cars broke down, babies needed surgery, etc. I know we are way better off than the average American family but even having any credit card debt really sucks! So the financial resolution for this year is to have all the credit card debt and doctors bills paid off by the end of the year and at least $2500 dollars in our savings account.
So those are my resolutions and now that I have written them down I have some accountability to make sure that I get them done.

You are inspirational, both for completing your goals last year and for setting these great ones. Good luck with all of them. I know you'll be able to do it! Oh, and I like the helmet.
