This Christmas was a good one. All the family was around (except Cara, Shane & Syd :(). On The 23rd, Kyle & Beth came up with the kids and we had a nacho bar, played Pictionary and Kyle and Beth opened their presents from us. Then on Christmas Eve everyone else got together again to have a dinner at Mom and Dads. The kids made gingerbread houses, even Benjamin did his own! I need to get the pix from my mom cuz they were super cute. We did our family gift exchange and then it was off to bed so the kids could wait for Santa.
Christmas morning was nice. Kimberly and Benjamin are still too little to remember that Christmas morning is what it is and wake up at 4:30am. Benjamin woke up first at around 7:30 and hung out in bed with us until Kimberly got up around 8:00. They were very excited to see that Santa brought them a tent with sleeping bags and backpacks. They have spent the last week lounging around the house in their sleeping bags and sleeping in them (on their beds) at night.
Alan was fooled this year. I bought him a decoy gift which was actually perfume for me since he doesn't like the body spray I was using and was constantly complaining about it. He opened it and I could see him trying to hide the disappointment (which is what I was going for). Then he got to his second gift which he assumed was a DVD by the shape. But when he opened it you can imagine the questioning look on his face when it wasn't a DVD but a Wii game. Puzzling since we don't own a Wii. So then I brought out the 3rd gift which had not been placed under the tree. My parents gave us their Wii. I had really wanted to get him one, but that was way out of the budget this year. My parents weren't using theirs and so they offered it up. We keep getting all their perfectly good hand-me-downs. I keep waiting for the day we inherit their car or house or something! :) Anyway, it is really fun and it is nice to get our netflix on the TV in addition to the computer.
We rounded out the presents with books and games and other odds and ends. Alan got me the box set of DVD's from the "Love Comes Softly" series. They are really good and we have enjoyed watching them. I was quiet surprised.
The afternoon and evening were spent at Kelly and Josh's house. The kids got a big trampoline from Santa so of course we had to go test it out. We stayed for dinner and then brought over the fire pit and had a "camp" with the kids and made smores and had hot chocolate. All in all an eventful holiday. Sad it's over but ready to get back to getting skinny, which is pretty much impossible over the month of December. Hey at least I haven't gained any weight thanks to the fitness challenge. Now for the New Years eve festivities tonight. I think we will have a good time but I'll save that for another post! :)
