Easter, Shinanigans, and Kimberly's Quote of the Week!

Kimberly's Quote of the Week
Easter was fun. Jeff was here visiting so he and Ani joined us for Easter dinner at my mom's house along with Kelly's family and Josh's dad Dave. We had an egg hunt and the kids got lots of treats. After dinner we were playing games and Dave was in the front room with all the kids helping them put a puzzle together. Dave is built a little like my dad with a round middle section. While playing, Jackie explained to Kimberly that Dave was her grandpa. Kimberly gave him a good look and then replied "I guess all grandpas have big tummies!" I didn't hear this but Dave took great pleasure in reporting the incident to us. Good thing he is about as big of a Teddy Bear as my dad. He found the unflattering observation more amusing than offensive.

Kimberly is really into playing house right now. She insists that she is the mommy and tries to tell Alan and I to do things. We were leaving Kelly's house and her bossy comments were getting on my nerves. So I told her if she was the mom she needed to drive home. At first she thought this was a great idea. But after I put her in the driver's seat and turned on the car, she changed her mind. When we got home she was refusing to go to bed and insisting that she was the mommy so she could stay up. Well, the car thing worked, so I thought that I would play along again. I told her that she could stay up and that daddy and I would go to bed, but she had to change Benjamin's diaper, get him in bed and then go do the dishes. She said ok, and Alan and I went into our room and shut the door.

After some struggling and screaming by Benjamin we hear a knock on our door. "Mom! Benjamin won't go to bed!" I snickered and told her to leave him alone for now and go work on the dishes. I thought this would surely frustrate her. But I thought wrong. About 60 seconds later I hear a chair drag across the floor. Then the water turns on. Worried for the safety of my kitchen we snuck out to see what she was doing. There she was, clumsily trying to scrub pancake batter off the mixing bowl from that morning. Bless her heart! She was really going to do the dishes! I am glad I have such a "big helper". Hopefully she really will be helpful after the baby comes.

The kids are going through a phase right now. Benjamin wants to wear this pink skateboard helmet before doing any sporting activity. The picture is when he insisted on wearing it before playing basketball in his play room. Kimberly's phase is a little more disturbing. She likes to be as naked as possible. We have recently had a lot of modesty conversations. She has a two piece princess dress of which she likes to wear only the bottom half. One day I told her that she couldn't wear the skirt with out a shirt and explained that all of our clothes had to cover our bottoms, tummies, boobies and shoulders. I sent her out to put a shirt on with the skirt. She however came back with a different idea. As the picture shows, she pulled up the skirt over her chest and pulled the netting from the dress stylishly over her shoulders. She came back in and told me that her dress was ok now because her boobies and shoulders were covered. Touche!!!
Schooled by a three year old again! The last picture is of her flash dance ensemble. She wore her swimsuit and daddy's socks all night. Then she struck a pose for the camera. I didn't ask her to pose, she just did. This was the least "provocative" of the pictures. Ugh! I'm in trouble. Our home teacher found her outfit amusing!
