From the mouths of babes

Oh Kimberly! Here are a couple of conversations we had a few days ago. One morning I was bathing the kids and Benjamin had some snot running down his nose. So I reached up and wiped it off.....

Kimberly: "Mom, when I am 4 and the new baby comes I am not going to put boogers in my mouth anymore."
Robin: "Well that's good! We wouldn't want our new baby to think it's ok to eat boogers."
Kimberly: "Yeah, but right now I'm still three......so I can still put boogers in my mouth sometimes."

Later that same afternoon we were in Subway eating lunch. A very large lady walked in and stood in the line about a foot away from us. In her loudest loud voice (which was definitely loud enough for this large lady to hear) Kimberly said the following......

Kimberly (wide eyed): "Mom! That lady has a really big butt!"
(I quickly buried my head in my hands....the lady didn't turn around but I could tell that she had obviously heard the comment.)
Robin: "Kimberly, that is not a very nice thing to say. We don't say things like that about other people."
Kimberly: "But mom, it's true! She does have a really big butt!"

I was mortified because like her mother, Kimberly only has one volume. LOUD!

Alan and I went to Disneyland for our 5 year anniversary this past weekend. We had a good time. I was glad not to have the kids with us but I couldn't help thinking the whole time about how much fun they would have there. We took the train to California and then we walked everywhere when we got there. Our feet and legs were like hamburger. It was less than a mile to our hotel but on the way home the last night it took us 45 minutes to walk it. I thought that someone was going to have to scrape me off the sidewalk. Fun, but definitely not a relaxing weekend. Maybe next time we will take the train to Palm Springs and spend the weekend going to the SPA and playing golf!

Kimberly is pretty convinced that the new baby is going to be a girl. When you even suggest that it could be a boy she shoots the idea down faster than you can get it out. I told her that it might be a brother and she says, "But mom if I try really, really hard I can make it a sister". She will be sorely disappointed if it is a boy. Benjamin however, really needs a brother to do brother things with. Kimberly is so girly that she will never be influenced by tons of testosterone. On the flip side, Benjamin plays whatever Kimberly does. We have seen him in tiaras, necklaces, make-up and now he is stealing my shoes. I guess as long as he continues to be rough, tough, violent and mean to his sister I don't have to worry. Right?

2 pictures at Disneyland, one of Kimberly, Jackie and Josh participating in a demonstration at the science museum (Benjamin decided that he needed to participate too so he just wandered up there. He thought he was helping.), one of Benjamin in Kimberly's pajamas and my shoes, and one picture of the two of them playing dress up. The found old Halloween costumes.

Should I be worried that Benjamin looks so good in your heels :) Cute kids and I am glad that you ahd such a good time at Disneyland and were feeling good enough to enjoy your time away! what a fun 5 year anniversary present! I bet Alan was so surprised!

I'm with Kimberly I hope its a sister too so that our babies will be best buddies (in a non you-have to-play-with-my-makeup-and-wear-my necklace-and-tiara-sort-of-way :))

Your kids are so cute! Sounds fun to take the train and spend time together in Disney Land. We keep telling Owen we're going to go there, hopefully next year we'll actually make it! Hope you are feeling better now

Oh I miss Kimberly; she was always making me laugh. I especially loved her "singing" in Sacrament meeting.
Oh and I do miss you guys as well :)
