HAPPY HALLOWEEN
I have a million excuses for not keeping up with this, but I won't use any. Just a vow to do better. I'm going to try to update once a week, so If I don't, someone send me a nasty email or something.
For those who don't know the Alan Daniels Family is now living in Maricopa Arizona......in my parent's basement! Alan lost his job in August the job market was not promising for technical writers in the SLC area. After much thought and prayer, we decided to move to Arizona. Alan has been wanting to attend graduate school to get an MBA for a while and ASU is where he wants to go. So I sold most of our posessions and we packed up a trailer and came to AZ.
Long story short, the move has been a great blessing. Alan searched for a job for 2 months before we came here and only had 1 interview. After we got here, it only took him 2 weeks to find a job. He has now been working for 2 weeks and he seems to enjoy it. He is working for a company called LaPolla Industries. They make foam insulation for residential and commercial buildings. His official title is Marketing Coordinator. It is a small company so it is only he and the marketing director are the only marketing staff. He gets to do all of the things he liked from his old job (over seeing the graphic designers, copywriting etc.) plus a lot of new stuff mostly dealing with events. He will get to travel across the country to a number of trade shows each year and is attending a national sales conference in Houston next week. This job pays better than his last one, has WAY better benefits and is in the field of marketing which is what he wants his MBA emphasis to be in. Our short term loss will hopefully be our long term gain!
Also if all goes well, we will be officially "homeless" on Monday. After the first deal on our house fell through, we had to put it back up on the market. But we got another offer 4 days later. We signed the closing papers yesterday and hopefully it will be a done deal on Monday. Quite the relief. Of course we lost a little money on the home and since we ate up our savings being un-employed, we had to borrow some money from my generous parents to close. Which means we will be in their basement for at least a few more months until we can pay them back. It is so hard for me to not have my own space, but at least the house is REALLY big and they have good cable. I love DVR. I can watch HGTV till my little heart is content and dream of having my own house by the time Callie and Brian come to visit during spring break (Don't think I forgot! I'm holding you to it!) Good thing parents don't get to stop being parents when you become an adult! Now we have lived in the basement of both sets! THANKS.
Halloween was fun yesterday. Kimberly was definately old enough to get it. Though she was too shy to say trick or treat at most of the houses. She didn't want to go in at the end of the night. After the first couple of doors she looked up at Alan and said "Daddy, this is really, really fun!"
She was a princess (she is in that princess phase where she wears a tutu around the house all day) and Benjamin was Santa. The costume was a little small so he fit the part looking nice and chubby. Sydney (Kimberly's and Benjamin's cousin) was a fairy princess. It was a fun night!
