Kimberly's Birthday and Baby Matthew

Late report on Kimberly's birthday. Kimberly is now 4 and insists on sharing that fact with everyone she comes in contact with. She also likes to point out all the things that "4's can do". For example, apparently 4's can "answer the phone and touch babies on the head". There is a long list of things that 4's can do, but that list swings both ways. I have started compiling a list of things "4's have to do" such as: clean their own toys, get their own drinks of water, stop peeing their pants and walk reverently at church. We will see how long the "4's have to" excuse works.

I asked her what she wanted for her birthday dinner and she wanted a picnic with hamburgers. Since mommy is very pregnant and it is still pretty hot to BBQ, we cheated. We got Jack in the Box to go and took the kids to the park for a picnic. :) Then on Sunday we had a family party for her with cake and ice cream and presents. She got everything she asked for and more. One of the benefits of having lots of family around is lots of birthday presents. She raked it in and was thrilled about it.

On September 11th, we welcomed grand baby # 8 into the family. Kelly broke her water that morning and bumped her c-section up. Little Matthew Ryan Oram was actually "big" Matthew at 9lbs & 8oz. That was 9 days early too! No wonder Kelly looked so huge. My mom is convinced that it is something in the water here in Maricopa because everyone seems to give birth to defensive linemen. But I'm pretty sure that mine will be a week late and probably wont top 8lbs, so i'll shoot her theory to pieces eventually.

Speaking of my baby.......yeah, no news. Went to the Dr. today, 3 days past my due date and I am still thick and closed. Apparently I have a very uncooperative cervix. I am so done being pregnant and just want my baby to come out. Especially since Kelly and I were due the same day and her's has been her for almost 2 weeks. Very frustrating. People say that nobody stayed pregnant forever, but I am convinced people like me are why the mortality rate in child birth used to be so high back before modern medicine. I am trying to hang in there and let the baby come naturally but I am not very patient. If he is much more than a week late, I'll probably be induced. I'm still hoping for a miracle though. How sad that I get excited over the occasional painful contraction! But alas, no labor for me! :(

Pix are of Kimberly's birthday party and the kids holding their new cousin Matthew in the hospital.

I am wondering if that age excuse can work for me like "28 year olds can eat a pint of ice cream in one day if they want". I like Kimberly's way of thinking!
And I feel for you. I hope that baby comes soon. I bet your water will break and you will give birth on the way to the hospital.... Not sure if that would be good or not.
