FINE! I'll do it myself!

Kimberly has been begging me to paint her nails for the past couple of days. I keep telling her "maybe tomorrow" because it just seems like too much work. Yesterday I let her color with a purple marker. It is actually the only marker we have in the house and Benjamin was sleeping so I figured "What the heck? Why not?" I'll tell you why not. Because apparently a purple marker is the perfect solution to a mother who is too lazy to give you a manicure. She actually did a pretty good job. And her right hand didn't look any worse than her left one. I just hope it comes out of her shirt.

I have felt guilty for a long time that I never did anything decorative to the kid's rooms when we moved in. I just ran out of money. So last week I got ambitious. It took me a while to tape off and 3 different colors meant 3 different days of painting, but I finished the boy's room. It still isn't what I'd like it to be. I can't buy matching furniture or anything. And the crib still needs to be moved back in. (Placed where the basketball hoop is now.) I need pictures in the red frames. I'm also trying to decide if the valence is enough or if I dare make curtains. Plus you can't really accessorize a toddlers room, stuff will just get broken. So my crazy painting scheme will have to do for now.

Before, the room was light blue with some sticky vinyl polka-dots that I had thrown up in desperation, trying to achieve some sort of color variance. On the first day, I haphazardly painted some white lines on the wall. I didn't tape or anything because I needed the white to be the bottom coat. So just 4 or 5 roller width white lines on the back wall and one roller width sloppy white line at chair rail height. Kimberly walked in the room the next morning and saw what I had painted. Her eyes got big and she threw open her arms exclaiming "OH MOM! I LOVE IT!" I couldn't contain my laughter. Guess I won't have to do so much work in Kimberly's room to please her. :)

Um hello, you need to take it easy! Did you forget you are pregnant and have 2 energetic kids? Silly girl :)

Great job though. Seriously I can't believe you took the time to tape off everything and paint it all. I have no patience for that stuff. Well done!!

The room looks great! I love Kimberly's manicure, what a fun girl. One of these days we'll have to come and see your cool house :)
